Well, well, well… I don’t even know how to start. It’s been months since my last post – major apologies! So much has changed since then but I figure if I didn’t just get to the computer and write something, I’d never revive this blog. I started Vai Via a little over a year ago and have had almost 5,000 views! I never knew who I wanted this blog to be for (well, besides me, of course), but to know so many people have read it and shared it with others is amazing. I’m in awe. So, here’s what I’ve been up to and where the blog’s going:
I’m a student again!
When I wrote my last post, I was a teacher. Here, I sit almost done with my 1st semester as a graduate student. I was supposed to start my Master of Arts in International Education last fall, but I deferred it to teach 8th grade science. Now I’m in Brattleboro, VT (not a typo: this city really exists, and yes, I’m really in Vermont) learning all about international education and a hell of a lot more. I’ve always been interested in exposing minorities, youth, and minority youth to study abroad and international travel – now I’m getting all of the technical skills and knowledge to make it possible. Lots more to say about this but it’ll come in the form of future posts.
Is the blog going to change?
But of course. I’ve grown and learned a lot and that’ll definitely be reflected in the content. So while I will still profile various countries, programs, and people, I’ll also be highlighting what’s going on in the education abroad and international travel industries. I will also be showcasing the places, people, and images of the African Diaspora. I’ve been learning a lot about Brazil (and I’m learning Portuguese!) so apologies in advance if you get sick of hearing about Sao Paulo.
Tons more to say but I’ll keep this one short. I know it’s been a while, but this is the perfect time to speak up! What do you want to know about? What would you like to see featured on Vai Via?
Welcome back!

[...] *Tap, Tap, Tap* Is This Thing On: How you start something is how you end it right? Well the 1st post of the year came in April. APRIL! Terrible right? I started the year neglecting Vai Via – and ended it the same way. Of course there are valid reasons for both cases of “neglect” and this post announced my enrollment in grad school! [...]
