Introducing: The 15 Day International Travel Challenge **Updated**

15 06 2011

Even Andy studied abroad - who knew?! -@broad

So, I found a really dope tumblr recently. And it was all about international education. You’d think those didn’t go together right? Wrong!  It’s called @broad and it’s a mix of study abroad information, quotes, video, and the best part – profiles of (real and fictitious) people who’ve studied abroad.  So, for example you’ve got Susan Lucci who spent a summer in Norway (shoutout to the Experiment!), Gabrielle Giffords who spent a year in Chihuahua, Mexico as a Fulbright Scholar, and Andy from the The Office who mentioned the summer he spent in Toulouse, France apprenticing a fromagier – ha! Yeah it’s definitely a tumblr to follow – so click here to do that.

However, the reason I’m mentioning the tumblr is because it’s where I found an International Travel Challenge that I’ve been meaning to start for ages now.  And by ages I mean weeks. It’s a 15 Day Challenge and I’d love for you to not only follow my posts, but to do it with me!  I’m going to post the prompts on twitter, too; so even if you don’t have a blog, you can still participate with a simple “reply”.  But if you do have a blog, it’ll be a quick and easy way to energize it! Really though, what better way to kick off the beginning of summer than with a few posts and a lot of pictures about some of your favorite destinations and travel-related advice?

Here’s how the challenge will go:

Day 01 – Favorite place(s) you’ve been
Day 02 – Where you’d like to travel next
Day 03 – An adventure/challenge you had while traveling or living abroad
Day 04 – A picture of you in another country
Day 05 – What do you bring with you when you travel?
Day 06 – What does “home” mean to you?
Day 07 – Besides people, what did/do you miss from home?
Day 08 – A favorite food from another country/culture
Day 09 – A song you like from another country/language
Day 10 – A favorite foreign movie
Day 11 – Did you have any milestones or “firsts” while traveling or living abroad?
Day 12 – Someone who influenced you to travel abroad
Day 13 – A favorite travel quote
Day 14 – What did you learn from traveling abroad?
Day 15 – Advice to someone who’s thinking about traveling to another country

So, who’s up for the challenge? (Or who’s done it before? I want to see your posts, too!)

**Updated**

Day 01 of the Challenge will be this coming Monday, June 20.  And I’m going to (try to) post every weekday – Monday thru Friday – so it should last about 3 weeks.  We’ve already got a couple of cool peeps joining in on the challenge – I’ve put everyone on a twitter list so far @vaiviadeidre/travel-challenge.  But I’ll also add a link to others who are participating on my daily posts.  Sound good? Good!  Happy Challenging :)

Woot! The more the merrier. Everyone’s pretty much going at their own pace so post whenever. It’s fun though and sparks some good discussions.

A Little Reflection Anyone? 2011: A Year in Review « Vai Via Blog

[...] Introducing: The 15 Day International Travel Challenge: This was the highlight of the summer! This challenge was a lot of fun and most importantly got a few other bloggers in the mix. From favorite places, to favorite foreign songs and movies, to advice to others who are thinking about traveling – this challenge really gave everyone a glimpse into my travel mind from a much broader perspective than just studying abroad. (It also proved that I can be a regular poster if I really want to – I posted every single day for 3 weeks!) [...]
